The Imprint Tote Unikko bag is made of traceable Scandinavian leather and it features the Unikko flower perforation in the front. The bag has an adjustable shoulder strap. The opening is gathered tight by the leather straps and secured with a stopper. There is a slip-in pocket on the inside. The inside lining is made of cotton in the Unikko pattern. The Marimekko logo is debossed on the sides and bottom of the bag.

The Imprint bags are manufactured in Abruzzo, Italy, with hand-finished details. The bags’ inner lining is 50% recycled cotton that was printed in Marimekko's printing mill in Helsinki, Finland. The Imprint bag series represents meticulous attention to every detail in the creation of a leather bag, from material sourcing to design and manufacturing.

The Imprint series features a leather manufacturing milestone that we are especially proud of—traceability. At Marimekko, we only accept leather from animals bred for food production, and each piece of leather used in Imprint bags can be traced back to a specific Scandinavian farm.

The beauty of Imprint bags stems in part from the natural feel of the leather, which is achieved through a less-coated surface. Slight irregularities in texture and color are characteristic features of leather, making each piece distinct.

Unikko

Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity.
