The classic Pieni Unikko pattern decorates this oven mitten made of cotton with a polyester filling.
Unikko was designed in 1964 after Armi Ratia, Marimekko´s founder, had announced that Marimekko would never print a flower pattern. Maija Isola refused to obey Armi´s orders and - in protest - created an entire series of floral prints. One of them was Unikko which has become a story of creativity, strength, courage and faith in oneself.
Instructions: Avoid using the product when it is damp as this weakens its thermal insulation capacity. Avoid contact with oven heating elements and open flame. The maximum touch temperature for the product is 480°F

Unikko
Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity.
