The Unikko 60th anniversary world
It’s been 60 years since the iconic Unikko print came into this world. And we’re ringing in the anniversary with a bang! Scroll forth to find limited-edition collectibles, and join celebratory events. But first, discover what makes this print so special.
The unlikely triumph of Unikko
Armi Ratia, Marimekko’s founder, believed the true essence of a flower couldn’t be captured in print. That’s why floral prints were excluded from Marimekko collections. Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. It emerged as part of a broader series of floral abstractions. Today, Unikko stands as a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity. Maija proved there's always room for creativity that spreads joy.

The light festival Lux Helsinki illuminated our home city in January. It kicked off the 60th anniversary of Unikko as Maija Isola’s most famous work was projected onto the Ateneum Art Museum's façade.
Marimekko debuted its FW24 collection at the National Gallery of Denmark on February 1. The final collection of the Unikko print’s 60th anniversary year simultaneously reflects our design icon's heritage and future.
