Field of flowers is a touring pop-up exhibition that celebrates the future of signature Marimekko floral prints in bold colors. Launching in Osaka in March 2025, the tour will travel across Asia-Pacific throughout the year.

Floral abstractions have been a cherished theme for Marimekko’s print designers for decades. The Field of flowers exhibition unveils 25 entirely new floral prints designed by Antti Kekki, Masaru Suzuki, Eija Vehviläinen, Aino-Maija Metsola and Erja Hirvi, with five prints created by each artist.

Masaru Suzuki

Masaru Suzuki is a Japanese textile artist and designer. He is known for his masterful sense of color, combined with playful and timeless interpretation of subjects from nature and the world around him. Suzuki is a long-standing collaborator of Marimekko, first getting introduced to the brand through the work of another Japanese Marimekko print designer, Fujiwo Ishimoto.

Antti Kekki

Antti Kekki is a designer known for his bold use of color, improvisational creativity and a passion for handcrafted techniques. His work often begins with a simple collage method, where paper cutouts are arranged into dynamic and playful compositions. Kekki has been collaborating with Marimekko since 2019.

Eija Hirvi

Erja Hirvi is a textile and print designer whose work blends everyday reality with vivid imagination, creating compelling, color-rich stories. Inspired by cities, gardens and her travels, she has left a lasting mark on Finnish print design. A long-time collaborator of Marimekko since 1995, Hirvi’s bold and imaginative style has brought a fresh perspective to printed textiles, earning her recognition both in Finland and beyond.

Aino-Maija Metsola

Aino-Maija Metsola is an illustrator and designer celebrated for her bold yet nuanced prints, where color takes center stage. A versatile visual storyteller, she brings her designs to life through techniques such as watercolor, ink, markers and gouache. Collaborating with Marimekko since 2006, Metsola’s work reflects a unique blend of artistry and narrative.

Eija Vehviläinen

Eija Vehviläinen is an illustrator and designer whose work is characterized by bold shapes, quirky color combinations and playful compositions. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings—her distinctive style often features distorted proportions, creating fresh and imaginative perspectives.
